Phase III

Phase III Design Approved

Phase III includes approximately 1500 additional properties in the Mastic area and aims to connect the homes and businesses in this area to the new sewer system and eliminate the existing cesspool and septic systems.

The design of additional sewer infrastructure for Phase III of the project has been approved and is currently underway.

Please see the map of properties included in Phase III. To support this effort, Suffolk County Department of Public Works has authorized its consultants, Gannett Fleming and SAM-NY Geospatial Inc., to perform a field investigation on behalf of the County that requires access to your property.

Residential Field Visits

Residential Property Field Investigation

Surveyors, engineers, and other design professionals will determine how to design and build this phase of the project. Members of the project team will begin visiting every home within the Phase III project area starting this fall.

Residential field visits will allow the design team to assess how to connect your home to the sewer system and eliminate the current cesspool/septic system. During these visits our team will need to locate existing utilities (water lines, electrical lines, etc.) that service your property; locate your existing cesspool/septic systems; and take exterior photographs of the property.

Step 1: Door Hanger Notification

Before the field investigations begin, you will receive a door hanger notification outlining the work to be performed and the anticipated week of activity.

Step 2: Make an Appointment

Follow the instructions on the door hanger to book a time with the project team for your field investigation.

Step 3: Complete the Questionnaire

You can provide the Field Investigation Team with information regarding your property by completing the online questionnaire or filling out a PDF.

Physical copies can be submitted to your Legislator’s office at:

Legislator James F. Mazzarella

1120 Montauk Highway, Suite G

Mastic, NY 11950

Step 4: Field Investigation

During the visit to your property, project personnel will wear visible identification and will clearly identify themselves and explain the purpose of their visit. We appreciate your cooperation in allowing the team access to your property to complete this important phase of the design process.
